'The Bargainer' Full Evaluative Analysis

Image
I made a horror film about an enigma called 'The Bargainer'. It follows a man who is slowly corrupted by a mysterious spirit- the Bargainer. It invades his life, warping his mind into that of a cannibal and degrading the man into nothing. I attempted to implement experimental aspects however I would refrain from saying it's entirely experimental as it follows a relatively linear narrative and a series of events. Despite this, I did take visual inspiration from  David Lynch's 'The Grandmother' whilst also still adding my own artistic flair. My goal with the film was to make an ambiguous tale about corruption and greed that active spectators may be able to interpret from the film. 'The Gunfighter' The first film I was influenced by is 'The Gunfighter'. 'The Gunfighter' uses intricate mise-en-scene to immerse the spectator in a 'Western' setting. This is a professional aspect of film making although, as I have made a film on a min

This scene seems better than scene one in its first execution. There is a lot of the scene that I will most likely use in the state it is in now however I would like to work some more on the editing and refine this scene better before it is properly finalised.

Overall, it seems that my first attempt at this scene may have been too dark. I would like to reshoot this either at a lighter time in the day or (as it is a darker time of year) set in a different room with more light exposed onto it. This may be hard as my house doesn't have that much light and is bad for exposure in general however I'm sure I can find a way to solve this.

Editing and Producing scene 3

So the next scene I decided to do is scene 3. I had originally planned for this scene to be in a black unknown location however I realised that a lot of my film is going to be in the dark at that point which is difficult to shoot to a decent quality. It also means that I won't have much variation in where the film is shot. Because of this, I decided to shoot scene 3 around the local area. Area itself wasn't important as longs it took place outside and is gave me enough footage on a big enough scale to show  a change in location (as though the dream is shifting and changing) and i was able to create a dream-like environment during shooting. During editing, I decided to use different colours. I wanted to create a dream-like atmosphere but also have some separation between each segment of the dream so that it is evident that it is a dream whilst also giving the scene the abnormality and stylising to be effective. To do this I used the strobe lighting editing tool which can chang
